All Aspects of Respiratory Support Including Ventilation

The clients we care for can develop respiratory problems requiring respiratory and airway management. They may need oxygen therapy, long term non-invasive or invasive mechanical ventilation. We ensure our nurses are trained and updated about new technology and the specialist care required by this group.

Many different conditions result in people requiring long term ventilation. The priorities are to ensure the clinical needs are met and helping the person to maximise their independence and quality of life. The nurses we provide have the knowledge, skills and competencies for all types of invasive and non-invasive ventilation including all aspects of tracheostomy care, suctioning, oxygen therapies, cough assist, chest physiotherapy and nebulisation.

Skills Set of our Specialist Nurses Include:

- Care of the child/adult receiving ventilation
- Experience of working in an intensive care department ITU, PICU, NICU
- Experience of equipment management including emergency equipment
- Escalation plan management
- Humidification management
- Oxygen Therapy
- Saturation monitoring
- Tracheostomy care
- Troubleshooting and escalation plans
