Palliative Care

Palliative care also known as End of Life Care is support is for people with an illness where recovery is not expected. We understand how difficult and emotional these situations can be, which is why we provide proactive care for people and their relatives in their last days of life, making sure their physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs are considered and met.

The nurse delivering this service will be required to ensure that they meet the clients' wishes in their last days. The nurse will work closely with the doctor, nurse and other health professionals, to make sure the best care possible is delivered at this time.

All our staff have up to date knowledge and competencies in this specialist field of care before attending a patient’s home.

Skills Set of our Specialist Nurses Include:

- Knowledge of Advance Care Planning
- Managing distressing symptoms, such as pain, agitation, seizures or respiratory distress
- Communication needs at this difficult time
- Medication management and support for symptoms such as nausea, tiredness or difficulty sleeping
- The management of equipment such as syringe drivers to assist with pain management
- Emotional and psychological support
- Hydration and nutrition
- Managing distressing symptoms, such as pain, agitation, seizures or respiratory distress
- The specialist care required in peoples owns homes
